Planetary Peril
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Description
The player begins by putting on the VR headset and are placed in space. The game begins and there are planets of different sizes (small, medium, and large) hurdling at the player from one side at varying speeds, and the player must shoot or dodge them to avoid losing health. The larger the planet, the slower it moves. Every 5 seconds, the rate at which the planets spawn increases. The player’s health decreases whenever they are hit by a planet. The larger the planet, the larger the impact on the player’s health. By pressing the primary button, the player shoots a sword from the direction their head is facing (directly where they are looking). The larger the planet, the more hits it needs to be destroyed. There will also be piles of gold randomly spawning on random intervals and placed around the area. The more gold the player touches, the higher their score. The player also receives two more swords for every gold pile they collide with. The game ends if the player loses all their health and their high score, i.e. the number of gold piles they collected, is displayed on the screen. The player can restart the game by pressing the secondary button (‘B’) on the controller when they reach the game over screen. The aim of the game is for the player to collect as much gold as possible before their health runs out.
Instructions
The player moves around the space with the joystick on their controller. They press the primary button 'A' to shoot a sword in the direction their head is facing. The player begins with a fixed number of swords that they can shoot. To collect the gold piles scattered around, the player needs to move and collide with them. Collecting gold piles increases their high score, but also grants the player two more swords each time. The player should be able to move around the room trying to shoot planets or avoiding them to keep their health. Once their health reaches zero, the game is over and their high score is displayed. They can restart the game with 'B', or the secondary button.
